South African Web Directories

The success of almost any website depends hugely on the amount inbound links coming to that particular website. But getting those links is not always an easy task especially when your website is relatively new and may not have a lot of quality content.

So how to you start getting some inbound links then?

Well the first step I always suggest is to get your website listed on as many free web directories as possible. This will at least give you a platform to get started and allow your entries to be indexed by search engines. Another benefit is that many times people actually land on directories before individual websites and if you are listed under your specific industry then chances are you will be found that way as well.

Getting listed in directories id by no means the be-all or end-all of getting inbound links, but simply the beginning. Getting your website to rank very highly in search engines is a lengthily process and requires a lot of time and dedication, but the rewards are worth the effort.

At this stage I am not aware of African specific social bookmarking websites or any industrial portals. I will however add these to the list if I find some, but please also feel free to find your discoveries here as well.
